In most of the United States and Canada, firefighter aptitude tests resemble the CPS test (which Firefighter Ready has 5 practice exams).
The categories that may be found in any of the firefighter tests may include:
- Memorization – remembering oral information
- Knowledge and understanding of written material
- Mathematics
- Grammar
- Mechanical aptitude
- Mapping
- Living in a community
- Understanding/comprehending 3D diagrams
- Tool recognition
- Teamwork
Most of the tests will have sections from most, if not all of the above sections. It is important to get as much practice as possible.
